Jessica: So, tell us where are you from? And what brought you to where you are?
Walter: I was born and raised on Long Island NY. I spent the last 20 years on the east end of Long Island in Westhampton beach.
Having grown a pretty good business as a Troubadour performer from Montauk to Manhattan, being true to my trade, I have a need to travel about to find new audiences. It has been a goal of mine to have good steady clientele up and down the eastern seaboard. I have made the Fl. scene, and liked it, but I have always had my eye on S.C. Hilton Head, Charleston, and Myrtle Beach etc. As it happens I have developed a wonderful relationship with a woman who I am now engaged to in S.C. and now I have the perfect reason to move here and work here
Jessica: How long have you been making music?
Walter: 38 years! As soon as I learned a couple of songs on the guitar, I clearly remember walking home from school one day, and thinking if I would spend as much time on writing my own songs as I do learning other people’s songs then I would have some pretty good songs. I brought my guitar everywhere, and all my friends would make up songs with me, or sing along it was great.
Jessica: What do you like most about working in the music industry?
Walter: Well performing is always the best part of working in music. That is the time we get to have fun.
Then the writing of songs is equally satisfying. Usually the songs are of a personal nature. So The gift of song writing to a song writer is being able to bring out emotions, and thoughts and put them on paper to see. In a way they are therapizing themselves. Then It is like self therapy that they get to share this art with others and see the effect it has on them. Finally, I appreciate all the great musicians I meet and get to perform with.
Jessica: How important do you think giving back to the community is and what do you do to give back?
Walter: I believe giving is one of the most important things anyone can do. There are many ways to give back to your community. You can try to always be pleasant and smile at everyone you meet. Always buy from your local Mom & Pop stores. I personally love, love performing at benefits to raise money for the less fortunate. It is very important to me that we use our God given talents to serve humanity. I personally practice one other thing a very wise man taught me many years ago. Do something nice for someone every day, and don’t tell anybody. There is no need to need to boast about our good deeds.
Jessica: What in your opinion is the magic formula for success?
Walter: No magic formula.
It helps to know the value of what you do, not only for yourself but also for humanity.
-Develop good daily habits.
-Really believe; I am always looking for that rainbow in the middle of a storm.
-Always hire the best.
Success to me is remembering who I was, and knowing who I am. My success was about realizing my passion, and is a real viable and beneficial practice for anyone, not just myself. I had to make a 180 degree turn in attitude and trust. Once I did that, it was like simply turning around to see all the right people were always there just waiting for me to turn around.
Jessica: Being such an active musician and performing multiple shows a week, what is your go to energy product?
Walter: So funny you should ask. I was just putting my Isotonix order together. I used to rely solely on coffee, where as I still enjoy coffee now but using my new brand being Marley Coffee. Too much of a good thing is not always good, so I have changed my routine to Daily Essentials, B complex, and of course when needed, my favorite, is Awake.
Jessica: Who introduced you to Conquer Entertainment, and why did you choose to utilize their platform?
Walter: Tristen Phillips owner of Primal Strength and a movement specialist I have been seeing introduced me to my CAD Anthony Ambrosio.
The music industry is to say the least a little nutty for the independent artist these days. You need a team of people to handle all the aspects of the business. I found that at Get Conquer it is easier to handle some of these aspects all in one place. It just seemed to make sense to me.
It is so simple to Listen, Download & Share. I love it. And then there is the trend shop. What a beautiful thing to get paid to shop, and have easy access for fans to buy merch, and any other products to boot. Listen, Download, & Share.
Jessica: What can we expect to see you doing next; do you have any projects or tours coming up?
Walter: There are a few exciting things happening in music. Currently I am writing a new single with Manuel Depeppe. A producer from Italy who has had a considerable amount of success in television and music. The song is amazing, and we plan to record it in December. I am very excited to be working with Manuel, and like a child waiting for Christmas, I can hardly stand the wait for its release.
Also you can expect to be hearing my music in some new reality TV shows set to be out by this spring, and summer.
I will be performing at another Conquer event in Rhode Island this November. This is a real thrill for me. I absolutely love mingling with all the Market America, and Conquer people at these events. It’s a great opportunity to learn about the business.
And of course my Troubadour Show will always continue to go on in both NY and SC.
